How to Use NADAguides to Find Used Car Values
You can use NADAguides to determine the value of a car you want to sell or to find out how much a car you want to buy is worth. To get started, go to the NADAguides website, and enter some basic information about the car and your location.
Explore by Manufacturer
Whether you're shopping for a car or browsing through the NADA used truck price guide, one of the first ways to use the guide is by manufacturer. To get started finding prices on vehicles from a specific manufacturer, click the Choose a Manufacturer button. You then have your choice of popular manufacturers. If you don't see the brand you're hunting, there's a drop-down list where you can see all 230 of the manufacturers for which the NADAguides website provides valuation estimates.
Explore NADAguides by Body Type
Whether you need to find NADA heavy duty truck values or the value of a subcompact convertible, but you don't have brand information handy, you can browse through the NADA website to find a specific type of car. For example, if you know you want an energy-efficient hybrid-electric car, you can click on the NADA Hybrid/Electric icon. The NADA website then loads a page where you can navigate through a few details to narrow your search until you get a price for the vehicle you want. You can also narrow the results by choosing to shop by price or by hunting the top-reviewed cars that have the chosen body type.
Shop by Price
After you've narrowed your options by navigating through the first page of choices, shopping by price is one of your options. The NADA website offers several price ranges for you to consider, such as under $15,000, $15,000 to $35,000 and on up to the Over $75,000 category. Click on the price range you would like to explore, and the site shows you local vehicles in the chosen price range. The site also shows you vehicles of the style you've chosen so you can see what options you have if you want to shop locally.
Explore Vehicles Based on Safety Ratings
Exploring the NADA website by safety ratings is another way you can proceed once you've chosen either a preferred manufacturer or a body type. Scroll about a third of the way down the results page to the list labeled Safest of the body type or brand you're researching. Click on a couple of the examples to run a comparison of the vehicles so you can determine which one you like and which has the best safety ratings.
Perform Side-by-Side Comparisons
The comparison tool on the NADAguides website lets you select up to four vehicles and run a side-by-side comparison of them. To use the comparison tool, choose the year, make, model and trim package you want information on, then select up to three more vehicles to compare it to. Details that are shown include the estimated retail value of each vehicle, the available specifications and the average customer ratings so you can see what other people think of your chosen vehicle.
